The plastic board problem
Every cut leaves plastic behind.
A scored polyethylene board sheds tiny particles into the food you chop on it, millions a year per person according to a 2023 study in Environmental Science & Technology.
A SORSO fibre board has no polyethylene or polypropylene cutting surface. It is made mainly from pine wood fibre, pressed into a dense, smooth sheet. Scratches don’t shed plastic-board particles into your dinner.

Wood, plastic, glass or fibre?
The honest comparison

Meet Home Harmony
Chop. Rinse. Repeat.
Built for the way you actually cook: fast, a bit messy, and straight into the dishwasher afterwards.

Into the dishwasher, after raw chicken
Chop, rinse, done. The non-porous surface lets nothing soak in, so a thorough wash is a thorough wash. Dishwasher safe up to 70 °C; dry it upright and it's ready for breakfast.

Bread side, ingredient side
Deep grooves on one side collect the crumbs while you slice a loaf. Flip it over and the smooth side takes fruit, cheese and vegetables.

Hot pan? No mark up to 165 °C
A pot straight from the oven leaves no ring, no scorch, no smell. The Curve doubles as a trivet on the table.

Chop on it, serve on it
The arch shape and the ridged surface make it a natural cheese and fruit board for guests. 37 × 25 cm, 6 mm thin, light enough to carry to the table with one hand.

Firm under the knife, kind to the edge
A dense, non-porous surface that is gentler on blades than glass or stone. Light knife marks are normal and don't affect the board.
Cross-section, 6 mm
What's inside
Mostly tree. Pressed hard.
Thin sheets of pine wood fibre, stacked more than 45 high, bonded with a food-contact resin under heat and pressure, coloured with a mineral pigment. That is the whole recipe: no coating, no wax, no varnish.
- Pine wood fibre layers
- Food-contact resin binder
- Mineral pigment for the colour
How to
How do you use it? It's really easy!
Four steps, none of them involve oil.
1
Wash before first use. One dishwasher cycle and it's ready.
2
Chop, slice, dice. Groove side up for anything juicy.
3
Serve straight from the board. Cheese, fruit, bread, all of it.
4
Dishwasher, then dry upright in the stand. That's the whole routine.
Before you buy
Three honest notes
Things other boards don't tell you. We'd rather you knew.
Wash before first use
Like any new kitchen tool, give it one dishwasher cycle before the first tomato. That is also how the lab tested it: washed, then measured.
It's a firm surface, not soft like wood
Fibre board feels harder under the knife than end-grain wood and is a bit louder. It is gentler than glass, stone or bamboo. If you love the soft thud of a butcher block, this is a different feel.
Dry it upright
Left flat and wet on the counter, any thin board can lift at the edges. Stand it on its side or in the Harmony stand and it stays flat for years.
Get chopping
From Tuesday dinner to Saturday guests

Garlic, onions, herbs
Odours don't soak in. Tomorrow's apple won't taste of tonight's garlic.

Cheese and fruit for guests
Chop on it, serve on it. The Curve is the right size for a two-person platter.

Bread, every morning
The grooved side catches the crumbs. Then the whole thing goes in the dishwasher.

Q&A
Good questions, real answers
Does it dull knives?
It's firmer than wood, so you'll feel the difference. Fibre boards sit in the middle of the pack: gentler than glass, stone or bamboo, harder than end-grain wood. Keep your knives honed as usual.
Is there glue in it?
The fibre layers are bonded with a food-contact resin under heat and pressure. It's a small share of the board and it's tested for contact with food. There is no surface coating, wax or varnish.
Can I cut raw meat and fish on it?
Yes. The surface is non-porous, so juices don't soak in, and the board goes into the dishwasher afterwards. For separate boards per food group, look at the Harmony System set.
Why wash before first use?
Same reason you wash a new plate: dust and handling from the factory and the box. One cycle and it is ready. The migration tests were run on a washed board, well within the EU limit.
Does it warp?
Not if you dry it upright. Any thin board left flat and wet can lift at the edges. Stand it on its side or in the Harmony stand after washing.
What does the warranty cover?
2 years: if a board warps, chips or cracks in normal home use, write to hello@chiato.com and we'll sort it out.
Where is it made?
In China, at a specialist wood-fibre board maker. We test the finished product in Europe and publish the report on this page.
